HOMER GLEN

3/14     Location:  13000 block of W. Maverick Trail

            Summary:  Victim stated that he ordered a car stereo and it was to be delivered on 2/29/12.  When he did not receive it he contacted UPS and they informed him that the delivery was made to his residence on that day.  Person/s unknown stole a UPS package from the front of the residence.

 

3/15     Location:  W. 143rd and I355

            Summary:  Thomas S. Thieling, age 36, of 5315 W. Grant St., in Merrillville, IN was arrested for DUI, no safety belts, and driving while license suspended.

 

            Location:  14000 block of W. Bruce Road

            Summary:  Victim stated that he purchased 100 anti-deer culling signs and several people within the Village of Homer Glen placed them throughout the village.  Victim noticed over the past week that person/s unknown had stolen about 45 of the signs.  The signs were described as brown, about 2 feet high, in the shape of a deer with white lettering.   Total value:  $900

 

            Location:  14000 block of S. Bridle Court

            Summary:  Person/s unknown removed an air conditioning unit from the outside of a residence.

 

3/17     Location:  14053 S. Bell Road                       Home Depot

            Summary:  Victim stated that he parked his semi truck and trailer near the receiving docks about 7:30p.m. on 3/16/12.  Upon returning the next day he discovered person/s unknown had moved the truck and stole the trailer containing forty-three 1000lb. copper plates with a value of $250,000.  The steering column inside the truck cab had exposed wires where the offender/s attempted to steal the truck.  Video surveillance was being reviewed and Tri County Auto Theft and IL State Police Cargo Theft task forces were notified.

 

            Location:  13000 block of W. Chicago Bloomington Trail

            Summary:  Michelle Dombrowski, age 49, of 13701 W. Chicago Bloomington Trail in Homer Glen was cited for failure to yield from a private drive after she failed to see a motorcycle while backing onto the road and struck a 41 year old New Lenox man.  He was transported to Silver Cross with non life threatening injuries.

 

            Location:  12147 W. 159th Street                    Eddies Tobacco

            Summary:  An 18 year old male customer informed deputies that at about 9:15pm he and two of his friends went into the store after observing the store lights on and the “open” sign illuminated.  Upon entering the business he heard the alarm go off.  He called out the owner’s name, who he knows from being a regular customer, and walked to the back of the store.  The three individuals then observed several cartons of cigarettes on the floor near the counter and immediately left the store.  The store owner arrived and stated that the store was closed at 9pm and the deadbolt lock had been tampered with.    Under investigation.

3/13     Location:  Bradford Rd. and S. Chicago

            Summary:  John Blaze, age 31, of 12335 Fairway Circle in Blue Island was cited for overweight on axles and improper display of registration.

 

            Location:  500 block of Harwood

            Summary:  Person/s unknown stole five 16” Firestone tires and rims from a resident’s yard.

 

            Location:  1600 block of 5th Avenue

            Summary:  Person/s unknown stole a Yamaha 660T Quad from a resident’s garage.

 

            Location:  Rollingwood Ct. and Rollingwood Lane

            Summary:  Tadeusz A. Bednarczyk, age 51, of 1921 Crestview Circle in Romeoville was cited for disobeying a stop sign, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and driving while license suspended.

 

            Location:  N. Briggs and E. Cass

            Summary:  Miguel Cervantes, Jr., age 19, of 612 N. Center in Joliet was cited for one head lamp, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, driving on a suspended license, and two counts of failure to properly secure child under 8 in appropriate restraint system.

 

3/14     Location:  High and Sterling

            Summary:  Jose A. Martinez-Ayala, age 24, of 719 Williamson Avenue in Joliet was cited for no rear plate light, driving while license suspended, and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

 

            Location:  1600 block of E. Washington

            Summary:  Person/s unknown stole a Mercury outboard motor (70 horsepower) off the back of a boat.

 

3/15     Location:  2nd Avenue and S. Eastern

            Summary:  Sherman I. Adkins, age 25, of 124 Illinois in Joliet was cited for failure to signal and driving on a suspended license.

 

            Location:  Gaylord and Theodore

            Summary:  Jose O. Ramos, age 47, of 527 Conant Avenue in Joliet was cited for improper use of registration, driving while licenses suspended, and speeding.

 

3/16     Location:  Knapp Drive and Weber Road

            Summary:  Jose L. Martinez, age 30, of 2215 Marmion Avenue in Joliet was arrested for DUI and failure to signal.

 

            Location:  E. Cass and Pickwick Road

            Summary:  Justin Q. Hall, age 24, of 108 Bradford Road in Joliet was cited for driving while license suspended, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and failure to signal.

 

3/17     Location:  Essington and Pandola

            Summary:  David R. Murphy, age 38, of 653 Mason Avenue in Joliet was arrested for DUI, improper lane usage, and improper turn at intersection.

 

            Location:  2409 Plainfield Road                     Instant Replay Tavern

            Summary:  Victim stated he arrived at about 10pm, had a few drinks, and had a friend give him a ride home, leaving his 1994 Chevy Astro van in the parking lot over night.  Upon returning the next day he discovered it missing.  Crest Hill Police notified him that they were called to an abandoned vehicle on Brian Street and stated the vehicle had been involved in a hit & run accident the night before. 

 

            Location:  Logan and E. Washington

            Summary:  Benito R. Martinez, age 28, of 217 S. Adella Avenue in Joliet was cited for no valid registration and no valid driver’s license.

 

 

 

            Location:  E. Cass and N. Eastern

            Summary:  Humberto Sanchez, age 32, of 322 N. Eastern Avenue in Joliet was cited for no headlights when required, no valid driver’s license, and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

 

3/18     Location:  Black Rd. and Plainfield Rd.

            Summary:  David Kan, age 22, of 523 Plainfield Road in Joliet was arrested for DUI.

 

            Location:  Black Rd. and Brentwood Drive

            Summary:  Michelle Riley, age 37, of 7106 Krutsinger Road in Kinmundy, IL was arrested for DUI and driving without lights.

 

            Location:  N. Larkin and Plainfield Rd.

            Summary:  Hector Martinez, age 18, of 17004 S. Hazelwood Drive in Plainfield was charged with drag racing.

 

3/19     Location:  1000 block of Ridgewood Avenue

            Summary:  Billy Navas-Morales, age 37, of 4128 Sterling in Joliet was arrested for disorderly conduct after it was reported that he was sitting on an individual’s porch swing while swinging a dog chain in the air.  When the homeowner asked Navas to leave he began yelling and causing a disturbance.  Deputies picked Navas up walking in the area.  He appeared intoxicated.

 

WEST TOWNSHIPS

 

3/14     Location:  Schoger Road                    Wheatland

            Summary:  Person/s unknown broke the passenger side window on a pickup truck and stole a CD player.

 

3/15     Location:  14000 block of S. Napa Circle                  Plainfield

            Summary:  Person/s unknown cut the screen at the rear of a residence, entered the house, and stole $75, two laptops, and a 42” TV.

 

3/17     Location:  8916 Schoger Drive                       Wheatland                   Green Machine Towing

            Summary:  Employee stated that about 4:30pm he heard the sound of a vehicle kicking up gravel in the parking lot.  He then observed an unknown white minivan leaving the impound yard.  After an inventory was taken it was determined that a red 2001 Ford Escort had been stolen.  The vehicle had been towed for improper parking in the Lakewood Falls subdivision, per an agreement with Green Machine and Lakewood Falls Homeowners Association.  Video surveillance is being reviewed.

 

3/18     Location:  16000 block of W. 135th                DuPage

            Summary:  A male white with brown hair, a beard, wearing a baseball hat and driving a silver Dodge Ram truck was seen stealing scrap metal from a property.  The property owner yelled at the subject and the offender took off with two steel drain pipes and two sections of aluminum fencing.

 

EAST TOWNSHIPS

 

3/13     Location:  26000 block of S. Linden Lane                 Crete

            Summary:  Chris Vines, age 20, of 1639 Main in Crete was arrested for battery.

 

3/14     Location:  23259 S. Torrence Avenue                        Crete               Verizon Cell Tower

            Summary:  Person/s unknown stole the main tower copper grounding wire. 

 

 

 

3/15     Location:  S. Cicero Avenue and University Parkway                       University Park

            Summary:  Brett W. Heinze, age 31, of 8150 W. 101st Place in St. John, IN was arrested for possession of cannabis over 30 grams and possession of a controlled substance.

 

3/16     Location:  27000 block of S. Nacke Rd.                    Beecher

            Summary:  Person/s unknown, possibly driving a white E350 box van or a newer model Ford Ranger pickup, entered a property and stole two snow blowers, two mower decks, one soil processor, a push mower, one 6ft x 8” steel plate, 8 rolls of barbed wire, a plow horse drawn, four cast iron table legs, a large rail road jack, and an electric generator.

 

            Location:  5600 block of W. Gail Avenue                  Monee

            Summary:  Person/s unknown slashed the front tire of a vehicle, broke out the headlight, and dented the front fender.

 

3/18     Location:  2900 block of E. Cedar Lane                    Crete

            Summary:  Person/s unknown entered a residence and stole a 19” TV, a Crossman pellet gun, a Daisy BB gun, a .22 handgun, and two boxes of .22 caliber ammunition.

 

SOUTH TOWNSHIPS

 

3/14     Location:  19656 W. Rt. 113              Wilmington

            Summary:  Raymond T. Barton, age 81, of this address was pronounced deceased after he was at the back of his property against the Kankakee River doing a controlled burn when the wind kicked up and blew the flames out of control.  The flames circled Mr. Barton and he was overcome by smoke and fire.

 

            Location:  21000 block of Hintze Road                     Wilmington

            Summary:  Person/s unknown entered a residence and stole several pieces of jewelry and numerous coins that were in a 5 gallon water jug.

 

3/15     Location:  900 block of Maple                        Wilmington

            Summary:  Victim stated that she placed an order from Performance Bicycle with an expected delivery date of 3/5/12.  When the package did not arrive she checked with the postal service and they informed her it was delivered on 3/6/12.  The victim never located the package and believes person/s unknown stole it from her residence.

 

3/17     Location:  N. Main and Van Buren                Wilmington

            Summary:  Shayne R. Pinson, age 19, of 184 Round House in Braidwood was cited for driving while license suspended.

 

LOCKPORT

 

3/14     Location:  300 block of Hughes Avenue

            Summary:  Person/s unknown entered a garage and stole an 11 piece Snap-On socket set.
