SOUTH TOWNSHIPS

 

2/7       Location:  34000 block of Lakeside Terrace              Wesley

            Summary:  Person/s unknown used a Discover card and charged $350 for a cell phone bill, $446 to United Airlines, $101 to Target, $76 to Avon and $222 to Yankee Candles.  The victim’s Discover card was still in his possession when the fraudulent charges were made.

 

LOCKPORT TOWNSHIPS

 

2/6       Location:  2nd St and State

            Summary:  Edwardo J. Mejia, age 43, of 2018 Jasmine in Crest Hill was arrested for improper lane usage and DUI. 

 

2/7       Location:  400 block of North Avenue

            Summary:  Person/s unknown entered an unlocked vehicle and stole a bag containing a laptop, 9mm semi-automatic handgun, FOID card, and other identifying information.

 

WEST TOWNSHIPS

 

2/6       Location:  25805 W. Rt. 30                Wheatland       Truck Sales

            Summary:  Person/s unknown stole four batteries from two truck cabs of semi-trailers.

 

            Location:  13000 block of S. Isle Royal Circle and 14000 block of Faulkner Ct.       Plainfield

            Summary:  Hector A. Meza, age 20, of 235 Davis Lane in Bolingbrook was charged with two counts of criminal damage to property in the early morning hours after two separate incidents occurred.  At 4am deputies were dispatched to Faulkner Court regarding a suspicious person.  Victim stated that she heard a noise in her bedroom and upon investigating saw a dark figure outside her window pulling back the screen.  When the offender realized the victim was there he fled the scene.  At 4:41 am deputies were dispatched to the Isle Royal Circle address where they spoke with a second victim who stated that while he was asleep he heard a ‘ripping noise’ and upon investigating he observed an unknown male subject walking down the street away from his house. When the victim went outside he saw a screen had been torn on his residence with several snow footprints around the window.  The victim gave officers a description of the suspicious person and they located Meza at Boudler and Lake Wood Falls Drive.  The victim was able to positively identify Meza and deputies were able to match his shoeprint at both addresses. 

 

HOMER TOWNSHIP

 

2/3       Location:  16000 block of W. 147th Place

            Summary:  Person/s unknown spray painted graffiti on a 6’ wooden privacy fence.  Damage estimated at $300.

 

2/4       Location:  146th and Smith Road

            Summary:  Marika Stepanovic, age 53, of 14606 135th Street in Lockport was cited for improper lane usage and operating an uninsured motor vehicle after she struck a vehicle head on that was parked legally alongside the road on 146th Place.  The driver and passenger of the parked car had just arrived at a friends’ house and had not yet exited the vehicle when the collision occurred.  The passenger, a 16 year old male, Lockport resident, was transported to Silver Cross Hospital where he was treated for a cut to his forehead and was released. 

 

2/7       Location:  14000 block of W. 159th Street

            Summary:  Between 12:30pm and 3:30pm, person/s unknown broke out a double pane glass door at the rear of a residence with a brick.  The offender/s entered the residence and stole a 46” TV, several blue ray DVD’s, a Playstation III gaming system, a Playstation II gaming system, a HDMI cable, $15 in change, two hooded sweat shirts, and 4 CD cases filled with CD’s.

 

JOLIET

 

2/3       Location:  900 block of Cassie Drive

            Summary:  About 1pm a 92 year old female victim that was home alone heard her dog barking and the door bell ringing.  The victim opened the door and a male/white, about 5’5”, stout build, unknown age, short hair, wearing a black jacket, waved at her and stated that he was her neighbor.  The offender entered the home and stated that he was going to be doing work at the back of her property and wanted the victim to show him where her property line was.  He also asked the victim if ‘the man of the house was home’; the victim stated no that he had passed away two weeks ago. (The victim’s son-in-law had passed two weeks prior.)  The offender then asked to borrow a screwdriver which the victim then accompanied the offender to the attached garage to retrieve one.  They both went to the back door and stood in the doorway overlooking the backyard for about ten minutes.  The subject then left the residence.  At 2:30pm the victims’ daughter returned home and her mother advised her about the incident.  The daughter located the screwdriver on top of her jewelry box in a bedroom and miscellaneous jewelry was missing.  Other areas of the bedroom had been compromised, however it was unclear of what was stolen at time of report.  Victim was awaiting CSI Technicians to process the scene. 

 

            Location:  Aresenal Rd. and Baseline Road

            Summary:  Mindy J. Wilburn, age 27, of 593 Marguerite in Coal City was arrested for possession of drug equipment, Under the Influence of Drugs, driving while license suspended, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, no valid registration.

 

            Location:  Briggs and Washington

            Summary:  Francisco Reyes, age 46, of 13 Anderson in Joliet was arrested for speeding, improper turn at intersection, no valid license, DUI and DUI over the legal limit.

 

2/4       Location:  500 block of Lehman

            Summary:  Person/s unknown broke out the rear windshield and driver side window of a vehicle.

 

            Location:  Briggs and Carey

            Summary:  Gary Andre Ward Sr., age 38, of 421 Kungs Way in Joliet was arrested for DUI, DUI over the legal limit and speeding.

 

2/5       Location:  Black Road and Midland

            Summary:  Daniel L. Lahey, age 22, of 2424 Morning Glory in Crest Hill was arrested for improper turn at intersection, using unsafe tires, DUI and DUI over the legal limit.  Kelly N. Glasgow, age 25, of 107 Inwood in Joliet was cited for allowing an intoxicated person to drive her vehicle.

 

2/6       Location:  400 block of Krakar

            Summary:  Person/s unknown broke into a residence and stole a 32” TV, a 19” TV, a digital camera, miscellaneous jewelry, a Playstation II gaming system and 17 assorted bottles of tequila. 

 

 

 

2/7       Location:  Jefferson and Larkin

            Summary:  Edward G. Barefield, age 32, of 2200 Oneida in Joliet was cited for driving while license suspended/revoked.

 

            Location:  Essington and Pandola

            Summary:  Steven Salazar, age 41, of 3471 Buck Avenue in Joliet was arrested for DUI, DUI over the legal limit and speeding.

 

            Location:  2212 Essington Rd.           McDonald parking lot             Roadside Safety Detail

            Summary:  Mark J. Fregelec, age 36, of 4700 N. Dresden Road in Morris was cited for driving while license suspended.

Mando M. Dibartolomeo, age 50, of 2413 Lockner in Joliet was arrested for DUI and DUI over the legal limit.

 

FRANKFORT AND NEW LENOX

 

2/4       Location:  7600 block of W. Lakeview Terrace                     Frankfort

            Summary:  Person/s unknown placed sand in the gas tank of a victim’s company leased vehicle.  Victim stated on 1/30 he stopped to get gas when he observed sand residue around the fuel cap.  He then observed sand in his driveway where the vehicle had been parked.  Cost of damage:  $466.

 

            Location:  Parker Rd. and Florence Road                  New Lenox

            Summary:  Richard T. Christakes, age 27, of 8950 W. 105th Street in St. John, IN was cited for driving while license suspended and no valid registration.

 

            Location:  13000 block of W. Cynthia Lane              New Lenox

            Summary:  Victim stated sometime between 8/1/09 and this date, person/s unknown entered his residence and stole from his master bedroom closet:  1) Ernst H. Roth violin ($10,000); 2) violins ($2500 each); 1) Winchester 30/30 Rifle ($1200); 1) Rifle – unknown make ($1000); 1) Smith & Wesson handgun ($600);    8) watches ($1500 total); 5) pocket knives ($50); 15) coins ($1,000); 3) Mont Blanc gold fountain pens ($12,000); 2) Mont Blanc silver fountain pens ($4000); and 2) violin bows ($3500 total).

 

2/6       Location:  7300 block of Braemar                  Frankfort

            Summary:  Person/s unknown threw several eggs at the window of the front door of a residence.  A yellow substance was also observed on the victim’s vehicle which the victim believed to be urine.  Nearby surveillance video was being reviewed for possible identity of offender/s.

 

EAST TOWNSHIPS

 

2/3       Location:  East and Exchange                        Crete

            Summary:  Sergio Garcia, age 20, of 433 Navajo in Park Forest was arrested for DUI, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and improper lane usage.

 

2/4       Location:  9212 W. Bruns Road                     Universal Welding                  Monee

            Summary:  Person/s unknown removed three steel skids from the business property.  A witness stated that he approached two male subjects in their early 30’s and asked if they needed help.  The replied that they were remodeling scrap metal off the property for the owner.  The witness didn’t think anything of it and left. The offenders were driving in a dark blue Dodge truck.

 

2/5       Location:  25000 block of S. Susan Lane                   Crete

            Summary:  Person/s unknown entered a barn and stole two 2002 Yamaha motorcycles.
