South Townships

 

12/7     Location:  Arsenal and Cedar                         Wilmington

            Summary:  Chad G. Mattson, age 34, of 407 S. Rathje Road in Peotone was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident after he rear-ended a vehicle, lost control and rolled his vehicle into a ditch causing it to flip.  Mattson was transported to Silver Cross with neck pain.

 

            Location:  15000 block of W. Bruns Road                 Manhattan

            Summary:  Samantha E. Smith, age 30, of 1260 N. Bosworth Street in Chicago was cited for passing a school bus while loading.

 

            Location:  Manhattan and Rt. 53                    Jackson

            Summary:  Juan G. Morales, age 29, of 225 Casseday Avenue in Joliet was cited for driving with no valid license.

 

            Location:  23000 block of Keith Allen Drive             Jackson

            Summary:  Person/s unknown entered a vehicle and stole an Ipod and a cosmetic bag.

 

East Townships

 

12/7     Location:  6700 block of Steger Road                        Monee

            Summary:  Person/s unknown entered an attached garage, then entered an unlocked vehicle and stole a Star 9mm semi auto handgun and a vehicle registration card.  Gun valued at $200.

 

12/10   Location:  5915 W. Monee-Manhattan Road             Monee             Gas City Truck Stop

            Summary:  Martin Moran Valdez, age 49, of 706 N. Hampton Drive in Bocaville, CA was arrested for possession of cannabis with intent to deliver after Sheriff’s deputies questioned him and he made incriminating statements in leading officers to ask for permission to search the semi truck Valdez was driving.  Deputies seized 217 lbs. of cannabis from cardboard boxes found in the truck. 

 

12/11   Location:  Indiana and Egyptian                    Peotone

            Summary:  Cody T. Johnson, age 21, of 26621 S. 80th Avenue in Monee was cited for disobeying a stop sign.

 

12/12   Location:  600 block of W. Stanton Lane                  Crete

            Summary:  Person/s unknown entered a detached garage and stole a sofa, loveseat, ottoman, stereo system and a craftsmen tool set.  Total loss:  $1,700.

 

12/13   Location:  1600 block of Main                                   Crete

            Summary:  Person/s unknown entered a vehicle and stole $46USC and two packs of cigarettes.

 

            Location:  1300 block of Church Road                      Washington

            Summary:  Person/s unknown entered two pole barns and stole an 8KW generator ($8500), a 7KW generator ($2400), compressor ($900), two chain saws ($2,200), a 12KW generator ($2800), two 11KW generators ($1,200 apiece), a compressor ($1,200), another compressor ($800) and two more chain saws ($1,300) and ($1,100).  An ATV that was parked inside one of the barns was used by offenders to transport the stolen items to an awaiting vehicle that must have been parked at the end of the driveway.

 

New Lenox and Frankfort

 

12/8     Location:  700 block of Prairie Road              New Lenox

            Summary:  Person/s unknown entered his front yard and stole two 100’ strands of multicolored Christmas lights.

 

12/9     Location:  21000 block of S. River Road                   Frankfort

            Summary:  Person/s unknown broke into a residence and stole $350USC, a Les Paul electric guitar ($200) and an amplifier ($100).

 

            Location:  21000 block of S. 79th Avenue                  Frankfort

            Summary:  Person/s unknown broke the glass of a rear door, entered a residence, and stole miscellaneous jewelry and about $500 in spare change.

 

            Location:  20639 S. Amherst Ct.           New Lenox              Goorsky Electric

            Summary:  Owner stated person/s unknown cut the catalytic converter off of a 2001 Dodge Ram van while it was parked in the parking lot. 

 

12/10   Location:  300 block of Hillside Rd.              New Lenox

            Summary:  Victim stated that three transactions in the sum of $92.84 were made to his bank account without his authority.

 

            Location:  Harlem and Lincoln Highway                               Frankfort

            Summary:  Sabino Hernandez, age 36, of 7032 W. Kennedy Road in Peotone was cited for driving while license suspended.

 

12/11   Location:  21000 block of S. 80th Avenue                  Frankfort

            Summary:  Person/s unknown forced open a front door of a residence and stole a men’s Bremen High School class ring ($400), a men’s chain ($300), a woman’s chain ($100) and a Miller Light bottle bank with about $400 in loose change.

 

12/13   Location:  Bittersweet and Marley                 New Lenox

            Summary:  Casey J. Kerrigan, age 22, of 22939 S. Spencer in Manhattan was arrested for possession of cannabis under 30 grams, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and speeding.

 

            Location:  400 block of Willow Road                        New Lenox

            Summary:  Person/s unknown kicked in a detached garage service door, entered it, and stole an 11-drawer Craftsman toolbox ($3000), a table saw ($1,500) and a tool kit ($500).

 

            Location:  Harlem and Vollmer                      Frankfort

            Summary:  Charles L. Shy, age 37, of 395 N. Commerce in Aurora was cited for Operating an uninsured motor vehicle and driving while license suspended, and expired registration.

 

Joliet

 

12/7     Location:  Larkin and Rt. 30

            Summary:  Donald C. Waddell, age 18, of 514 Grant Avenue in Joliet was arrested for manufacture/delivery of cannabis under 30 grams and Allen A. Allan, age 20, of 1229 Chippewa St. in Joliet was cited for improper lane usage.

 

            Location:  Brandon and Patterson

            Summary:  Deputies and Joliet Fire personnel were called to the scene of an accident involving a car and a school bus.  The driver of a 1998 Ford Taurus, a 60 year old man from Steger, stated that he was unable to stop his vehicle in time to avoid striking the rear of the bus because of icy road conditions.  Four female juveniles (3 – age 14 and 1 – age 15) were transported to Silver Cross for non-life threatening injuries and two other females, age 14 and 15, and a 15 year old male were transported to Provena St. Joe’s for non-life threatening injuries.  No one else was hurt in the incident. The remainder of the children on the bus were transported to Joliet Township High School where the parents would be notified.

 

            Location:  Arsenal and Baseline

            Summary:  A 41 year old Hammond, IN man driving a 2001 Freightliner semi truck was side-swiped by a Dodge Caravan while he was stopped at a red light.  The Caravan lost control because of icy road conditions, struck the driver’s side rear trailer, and sped off.

 

12/8     Location:  Benton and Collins

            Summary:  Lorenzo Davalos, age 27, of 502 Hickory St. in Joliet was cited for driving while license suspended.

 

12/9     Location:  1000 block of Magnolia Drive

            Summary:  Person/s unknown removed a mechanical white Christmas deer lawn ornament from the front yard of a residence.  Valued at $100.

           

            Location:  800 block of Magnolia Drive

            Summary:  An employee from a credit card fraud company contacted a victim and informed her that person/s unknown in Pensacola, FL made six transactions on her card without her permission. 

 

            Location:  600 block of Pontiac

            Summary:  Person/s unknown broke out a window on two vehicles that were parked in a driveway.  A paving rock was used to break the windows.

 

12/11   Location:  Pheasant Run Road

            Summary:  A 24 year old male victim stated that at 11:50 p.m., while returning to his apartment, he observed a male/black individual that was in the common area entrance of his building.  The individual had been seen in the building for the last three months so the victim was not alarmed.  The individual approached the victim, produced a semiautomatic pistol, and demanded money.  The victim gave the offender $200 and the offender then took off.

 

            Location:  501 Ella Avenue        Will County Health Department

            Summary:  A health department employee stated that while inside working person/s unknown entered her unlocked vehicle and attempted to steal her stereo.  She had left her car doors unlocked because of the freezing temperatures.

 

12/12   Location:  Briggs and Bruce

            Summary:  Heather J. Gibson, age 24, of 216 Grinton Avenue in Joliet was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident after she slid on the icy road, struck the rear of a vehicle that was stopped that in turn, rear ended another vehicle that had stopped at the intersection.  Gibson and her 26 year old passenger were transported to Silver Cross Hospital for neck and ankle injuries.  The other drivers refused medical treatment at the scene.

 

 

 

            Location:  I80 and Wheeler

            Summary:  Keon Durell Kelly, age 26, of 3520 S. State Street in Lockport was arrested for DUI, DUI over the legal limit, DUI drugs, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, improper lane usage, illegal use of white flashing lights and driving while license suspended.

 

            Location:  200 block of SW Circle Drive

            Summary:  Person/s unknown entered a residence and stole a 32” flat screen TV and a digital camera.

 

12/13   Location:  Black Rd. and Essington

            Summary:  Craig M. Kois, age 29, of 809 Buell in Joliet was arrested for speeding, DUI, and DUI over the legal limit.

 

West Townships

 

12/8     Location:  23533 W. Main                  Midwest Hot Rods                             Plainfield

            Summary:  Person/s unknown removed a Western snow plow from the front of a truck that was parked on the business property, and stole it.  The plow was over ten years old.

 

12/13   Location:  10000 block of Red Stable Way               Wheatland

            Summary:  Person/s unknown used spray paint and wrote “NVHS sucks” on the garage door of a residence.  (Neuqua Valley High School)

 

Homer  Glen

 

12/7     Location:  16000 block of Codo Drive

            Summary:  Person/s unknown burglarized a residence by entering thru a garage service door.  Offenders stole savings bonds, jewelry, two video games, USC, and several bottles of perfume.  Victim arrived home around 3pm.

 

            Location:  16000 block of Spaniel Drive

            Summary:  Person/s unknown burglarized a residence by breaking thru the rear door.  Offender/s stole antique coins and miscellaneous jewelry.  Victim arrived home around 6pm.

 

            Location:  13000 block of Dokter Place        

            Summary:  Person/s unknown burglarized a residence by kicking in the rear door.  Offender/s stole about $10 in loose change, a pouch containing military badges and medals and a coin collection.  Victim had arrived home around 6pm.

 

Note:  A witness reported that he observed a white, older model American made vehicle parked in the area about noon on 12/7.  The vehicle was also described as having a long front end and appeared suspicious.  Another witness reported seeing a white, 1996 Chevy sedan in the Pebble Creek subdivision near Cedar Road during the same time of the burglaries.

 

            Location:  Chicago-Bloomington and Parker

            Summary:  Kazimierz B. Jaworski, age 60, of 11852 Josephine Drive in Mokena was cited for no valid driver’s license.

 

12/8     Location:  Bruce and Cedar

            Summary:  Victim stated while making a left turn onto Cedar a red truck with a front snow plow disobeyed the stop sign at the intersection and collided with the passenger side of his vehicle.  The offending vehicle did not stop to exchange information with the victim and continued driving west on Bruce Road.

 

12/10   Location:  14225 S. Bell Road                LaPetite Academy

            Summary:  Victim stated while entering the school to pick up her daughter, person/s unknown entered her unlocked vehicle and stole her purse.   About 25 minutes after the incident she received a phone call from an unknown person who told her that they had found her purse in the parking lot of Home Depot on Bell Road.  When she retrieved her purse she found that offenders had removed her ATM card and several credit and gift cards. 

 

12/12   Location:  163rd and Gougar

            Summary:  Lindsay A. Laterzo, age 25, of 259 E. 3rd in Elmhurst was cited for disobeying a traffic control device and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

 

Lockport

 

12/7     Location:  Taylor and Weber

            Summary:  Peggy A. Villarreal, age 28, of 227 Pell Avenue in Romeoville was cited for driving while license suspended and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

 

12/10   Location:  -100 block of Bruce

            Summary:  Victim stated that UPS had delivered a package containing one American Eagle shirt that she had ordered and delivered to her house.  When she arrived home the package was opened and the shirt was missing.

 

12/11   Location:  200 block of Barry Avenue

            Summary:  Trineah L. Robertson, age 23, of 1524 Fairmont Avenue in Joliet was arrested for domestic battery.  A 15 year old male juvenile was arrested for the same charge and was transported to the River Valley Juvenile Justice Center.
