FRANKFORT AND NEW LENOX

 

10/26   Location:  S. Harlem and W. North Ave.                   Frankfort

            Summary:  Michael R. Albor, age 29, of 164 W. 27th St. in Chicago Heights was arrested for DUI, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, disobeying a stop sign, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and improper lane usage.

 

            Location:  800 block of Melrose                                 New Lenox

            Summary:  Person/s unknown attempted to open a Nextel account using a victim’s identifying information.

 

            Location:  1000 block of E. Lincoln Highway           New Lenox

            Summary:  Victim stated that she opened her front door at 5am and noticed her Olds Alero was stolen from her driveway.

 

10/28   Location:  8200 block of W. Lincoln Highway          Frankfort

            Summary:  Palina Perez-Zapata, age 18, of 7828 W. Lincoln Highway in Frankfort was charged with no valid driver’s license and leaving the scene of a property damage accident after she swerved off eastbound Lincoln Highway and struck a 1991 Cadillac Seville and a 2005 Jaguar Styre, which were both parked.  Perez-Zapata then drove away from the scene but was followed by a witness who notified deputies.

 

            Location:  7260 W. North Avenue                             Frankfort         Summit Hills Jr. High

            Summary:  Person/s unknown broke the rear window of a van and stole a laptop.  The incident occurred between 7:25am and 11:25am.

 

10/29   Location:  23000 block of S. Big Run Drive              Frankfort

            Summary:  Victim stated while looking at her credit card statement she observed three unfamiliar charges, each for $300.  The charges were made at an unknown store in Chicago.

 

10/30   Location:  19000 block of S. Thistle Lane                  Frankfort

            Summary:  Victim was contacted by his bank rep who notified him of a suspicious charge on his Visa card.  Unknown person withdrew $500 from an ATM located on Harlem.  The victim was in possession of his card.

 

            Location:  Wolf and Front                                          Frankfort

            Summary:  Victim was advised by Mokena Police that they were in possession of a trailer that was registered to him.  The trailer was recovered in the intersection of Wolf and Front at 8pm on 10/29.  The victim informed police that a friend had borrowed the trailer.  Upon advising the friend, the friend realized that the trailer had been stolen from his Front Street property by person/s unknown.

 

            Location:  S. 80th and W. Frankfort Square Rd.         Frankfort

            Summary:  Mark J. Tulowitzki, age 25, of 314 Shabbona in Park Forest and Andrew Y. Rubia, age 27, of 1598 Central Way Walk in Tinley Park were both arrested for possession of a controlled substance.

 

10/31   Location:  1000 block of Donald                                New Lenox

            Summary:  Victim stated that UPS delivered two packages to her from Sprint.  The packages contained a total of five cell phones.  Victim uses Verizon and did not order the phones.  Upon contacting Sprint they advised that the order was made on-line using the victim’s name, date of birth, social security number and address.    Later that day the victim received a text message from Verizon advising her that her two new phones were activated and ready to use.  Victim never ordered these phones either.

 

            Location:  7500 block of W. Lakeside Drive             Frankfort

            Summary:  Person/s unknown stole a concrete dolphin statue, weighing about 100 lbs., and a concrete male karate statue in a kick-boxing position from the front yard of a residence.  Value:  $550.

 

11/1     Location:  500 block of Alan Drive                            New Lenox

            Summary:  Person/s unknown entered an unlocked vehicle and stole loose change.  A Motorola cell phone was found on the front seat that did not belong to the victim.

 

SOUTH TOWNSHIPS

 

10/28   Location:  36000 block of S. Irish Lane                     Custer Park

            Summary:  Person/s unknown twisted a ladder and removed the lower portion of the ladder on a deer hunting tree stand making the stand inaccessible.

 

            Location:  32000 block of Rt. 53                    Wilmington

            Summary:  Clarence M. Lamping, age 19, of Rt. 1 in Ramsey, IL was arrested for domestic battery and criminal damage to property.  Lamping also had a valid in-state FTA warrant.

 

10/29   Location:  24001 W. Lorenzo Road               Wilmington               River Restaurant

            Summary:  Steven M. Noe, age 36, of 415 W. Jefferson Street in Gardner, IL was arrested for aggravated battery, vehicular invasion and armed violence after he allegedly broke out the side window of a vehicle with a hammer and stabbed a man inside in the forearm and shin area at 3:56am in the parking lot of the restaurant.  The dispute was related to a prior domestic incident.  A warrant was issued for Noe and Sheriff’s detectives took him into custody later that day.  The victim was transported to Provena St. Joe’s, treated, and released.

 

10/30   Location:  31000 block of S. 104th Avenue                Peotone

            Summary:  Person/s unknown entered three unlocked vehicles that were parked in a residence driveway.  Taken from one of the vehicles was a debit card, a pair of sunglasses and numerous CD’s and DVD’s; the second vehicle had a large metal toolbox containing various tools in it and a wallet containing $800 stolen from it and the third vehicle did not have anything stolen.  The debit card was fraudulently used five times within a few hours after the incident.   

 

11/1     Location:  32000 block of Rt. 53                    Wilmington

            Summary:  Person/s unknown broke into a residence and stole a 26” TV ($400), and 2 pieces of jewelry ($100 each). 

 

            Location:  St. Martin Long Rd. and Ballou Rd.         Wilmington

            Summary:  Victim received a call from Wesley Township Commissioner who advised him that two trucks were ‘mudding’ through his wheat field.  Upon investigating the victim observed tire tracks throughout 10 acres of his field that he had recently planted.  Estimated damage $800 to replant it.  The victim followed the tire tracks to the Wee Sip Car Wash at 1099 S. Water St. where he observed a 2005 Dodge Ram being washed and a Chevy S-10 pickup just leaving the car wash.  Deputies spoke with the driver and passenger of the Ram who stated that they had been ‘mudding’ but they were on the passenger’s parents’ property and not on the victims. 

 

 

 

EAST TOWNSHIPS

 

10/26   Location:  30000 block of S. Egyptian Trail               Will

            Summary:  Person/s unknown attempted to enter a residence by prying the front door open.  Attempt was unsuccessful.

 

10/27   Location:  8000 block of W. Eagle Lake Road          Peotone

            Summary:  Between 10/17 and 10/27, person/s unknown removed a 1940, Colt 45 handgun from a residence.  The gun is inoperable.  A possible suspect is being investigated.

 

            Location:  W. Goodenow Rd. and Rt. 394                Crete

            Summary:  David S. Bartucci, age 20, of 3029 Union Avenue in Steger was arrested for reckless driving after he got into a traffic altercation with a woman and allegedly tried to run his vehicle into hers while traveling at a high rate of speed.

 

10/28   Location:  1600 block of W. Norfolk                         Crete

            Summary:  A 16 year old male from Chicago Heights was charged with criminal trespass to property after he was seen entering a garage and stealing a Mongoose bicycle.  Deputies located the offender at Broadview and Loomis riding the bike.

 

HOMER GLEN

 

10/27   Location:  14000 block of W. Renmore Road           

            Summary:  Person/s unknown entered an unlocked vehicle and stole four levels, six trowels and a pair of sunglasses.

 

            Location:  135th and 146th Place                     Lockport Water Department

            Summary:  Between 8am and 3:15pm, person/s unknown broke into the water building containing Well #11.  The door latches had been pried open and bent at the top and bottom of the doors.  A water technician discovered an 8” check valve unattached from the main water pipe and about 2’ of water was on the floor.  Several switches on the water generator were tampered with; the chlorine pump booster suffered severe water damage and was inoperable due to the electrical components being fried.  A hand-held chlorine tester was found on the floor and was also inoperable due to water damage.   Estimated damage amt.:  $5,000.

 

            Location:  12914 W. 143rd St.                         Homer Athletic Club

            Summary:  President of Homer Athletic stated that person/s unknown stole a John Deer power lawn mower from a shed behind Goodings Grove School.  The incident occurred between 10/10 and 10/27.  Estimated value: $3,000.

 

            Location:  W. 159th and Bell Road

            Summary:  Blake E. Anderson, age 29, of 4112 Raymond Avenue in Brookfield, IL was cited for driving while license suspended and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

 

            Location:  14000 block of S. Pheasant Lane

            Summary:  Person/s unknown entered an unlocked vehicle and stole an Apple I-touch, a GPS unit and six CD’s.

 

            Location:  14000 block of W. Renmore Road

            Summary:  Person/s unknown entered a vehicle and stole a wallet.

 

 

 

10/28   Location:  12000 block of W. Morgan Court

            Summary:  Person/s unknown entered a work vehicle and stole 500’ of welding copper cable ($400), and a 5 gallon can of gasoline.

 

            Location:  14000 block of S. Hialeah Court

            Summary:  Person/s unknown entered a residence and stole a laptop computer.  A witness reported to the victim that she observed a female/white walking around the residence that morning when the owners were gone.  A suspect is being investigated.

 

            Location:  14000 block of S. Woodcrest

            Summary:  Person/s unknown entered an unlocked vehicle and stole a Nintendo DSI game unit and 100 game cartridges.

 

            Location:  13000 block of W. 167th

            Summary:  Person/s unknown entered a vehicle and stole a wallet containing several credit cards and $150 USC.

 

            Location:  12000 block of Rosewood Drive

            Summary:  Person/s unknown entered a vehicle and stole an I-pod.

 

            Location:  14000 block of Surrey Court

            Summary:  Person/s unknown entered a vehicle and stole a Coach Purse and wallet containing numerous credit cards, a pair of $200 earrings and a $200 necklace.

 

            Location:  13000 block of W. 167th

            Summary:  Person/s unknown broke out the side window of her vehicle and stole a workbag containing bills, check stubs, 2 work ID’s and a stethoscope.

 

10/30   Location:  163rd and Cedar Road           Morris Park

            Summary:  A volunteer assigned to maintain the soccer field observed tire tracks on the field beginning at the front, extending toward the middle and returning to the front of the soccer field.  Damage amount unknown.

 

10/31   Location:  12000 block of Flint Drive

            Summary:  Person/s unknown entered a garage then entered a vehicle and stole an I-pod, a laptop and a GPS unit.

 

            Location:  16000 block of W. 145th Place

            Summary:  Victim heard a loud crash coming from a bedroom.  He observed a three-pane window had been shattered by a rock.  The rock traveled across the room and struck the closet door causing a 1” gash.

 

            Location:  12000 block of W. Lake View Drive

            Summary:  Person/s unknown drove an ATV through a residential lawn leaving tracks in the yard.  The offender/s also threw eggs on four areas of the home.

 

            Location:  143rd and Bell road

            Summary:  Joe V. Rehak, age 47, of 710 Thornton in Lockport was arrested for DUI, DUI over the legal limit and improper lane usage.

 

11/1     Location:  12000 block of Rosewood Drive

            Summary:  Person/s unknown entered an unlocked vehicle and stole $90 USC, driver’s license, and a bank card.

 

            Location:  14000 block of S. Pine Grove Drive

            Summary:  Person/s unknown broke the back window of a vehicle while the vehicle was parked on the street.

 

            Location:  16000 block of W. 145th Place

            Summary:  Person/s unknown threw a rock at a home causing damage to a strip of vinyl siding.

 

            Location:  14000 block of S. Chickasaw Trail

            Summary:  Person/s unknown spray painted the side of a vehicle with a single line of white paint.

 

WEST TOWNSHIPS

 

10/26   Location:  14000 block of S. Hillsdale Lane              Plainfield

            Summary:  Person/s unknown entered an unlocked vehicle and stole a GPS unit.

 

10/27   Location:  22921 Lincoln Highway                Mobil Oil         Plainfield

            Summary:  Person unknown, driving a red pickup truck, pumped $31.94 worth of gasoline and drove off without paying.

 

            Location:  22000 block of W. Renwick Rd.               Plainfield

            Summary:  Victim stated he rents a parking space for his semi-truck and trailer.  On 10/23 he parked his truck and on 10/27 when he returned to pick it up it was gone.  Value unknown.

 

            Location:  31W218 91st                      Wheatland       Turbo Asset Recovery Storage

            Summary:  Between 10/22 and 10/27 person/s unknown entered a vehicle and removed a 1000 watt amplifier and two 15” subwoofers.

 

10/29   Location:  13000 block of S. Lake Drive                   Plainfield

            Summary:  Person/s unknown entered an unlocked vehicle and rummaged through it.  Nothing was missing however a pack of Kool cigarettes were found that did not belong to the victim.

 

10/30   Location:  2401 Plainfield Road                     Klem’s Pizza               Plainfield

            Summary:  Person/s unknown entered an unlocked vehicle and stole a cell phone, I-pod and a MP3 tape converter.

 

            Location:  10045 S. Bode                   Paul Davis Restoration                       Wheatland

            Summary:  Between 10/25 and 10/30, person/s unknown entered the rear parking lot and stole a 71/2’ detached snow plow.  Valued at: $4000.

 

10/31   Location:  24125 W. 111th                  Car Start          Wheatland

            Summary:  Victim stated on 10/26 she left her red 2004 Mazda to have minor repairs done.  She informed personnel that she would return on 10/31 after 9pm to pick up her vehicle and to leave it locked in the parking lot with the keys locked inside.  On 10/31 her vehicle was gone and it is believed to have been stolen.

 

            Location:  23000 block of W. Grinton                       Plainfield

            Summary:  Person/s unknown damaged a motion detector, and struck a vehicle with yellow paint ball pellets and eggs.  Victim also reported that during the previous weekend, person/s unknown had toilet-papered his front yard.

 

 

 

JOLIET

 

10/26   Location:  400 block of Krakar Avenue

            Summary:  Victim stated that at 4:20pm, while going into his detached garage, he observed two males, about 5’8” to 5’10”, unknown race, wearing dark clothing, coming out of his garage carrying items.  The offenders took off running through the yards.  Stolen was two Bostitch roofing nail guns ($700), a framing nail gun ($400) and a gas powered concrete saw ($800).

 

10/27   Location:  900 block of Spencer

            Summary:  Victim stated that her residence had caught fire one month ago and she had posted ‘No Trespassing” signs around the property.   At about 5pm, while checking on the residence, she observed two male blacks and one female black removing aluminum siding from her house.  When asked by the victim what they were doing they replied that they were told by a man that it was okay to take whatever they wanted.  The victim told the three that she was the owner and asked them to leave.  The three left in a black Ford 4x4 truck with about 150sq ft of siding and a power washer that had been on the side of the house.

 

            Location:  1700 block of E. Cass

            Summary:  Deputies responded to a call to assist fire personnel at about 1pm.  Upon arriving Joliet Fire was attending a 78 year-old man who was lying in the roadway.  The victim had been reading his mail in his pick-up truck when he noticed that a neighbor’s mail had been placed in with his.  The victim pulled forward to his neighbors, exited the truck believing he had put the truck in park, but in fact had it in reverse.  The truck door struck the man knocking him to the ground and backed over his right leg.  The victim was transported to Silver Cross for treatment.  Injuries were not life threatening.

 

            Location:  1300 block of Sterling Avenue

            Summary:  Person/s unknown broke a window on a motor home that was parked in a residence driveway.

 

            Location:  315 Siegmund St.

            Summary:  Jose De Jesus Silva, age 55, of this address, was arrested for domestic battery.

 

10/28   Locatiaon:  1822 E. Washington        Ingalls Park Liquors

            Summary:  At 11:30 pm, three male blacks, wearing black clothing and ski masks, entered the store.  Two of the offenders held black semi automatic handguns.  One offender stood by the door while pointing his gun at a store worker and ordered him to the ground, while another offender pointed his gun at another store worker behind the counter as the third offender jumped over the counter and demanded money.  The store worker opened the register giving the offender about $200.  The offender then punched the store worker in the face and demanded more money.  The worker opened a second register and handed the offender about $1000.  All three offenders then fled on foot.    Under investigation.

 

10/29   Location:  E. Cass and Collins

            Summary:  Robert L. Jackson, age 28, of 358 N. Broadway in Joliet was arrested for DUI, DUI over the legal limit, illegal transportation of alcohol, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, driving while license suspended and improper lane usage.

 

            Location:  100 block of Schorie

            Summary:  Person/s unknown broke a piece of wooden rail on a resident’s fence.

 

10/30   Location:  1700 block of Sunrise Lane

            Summary:  Person/s unknown entered a residence and stole $200 from a purse.

 

           

Location:  1400 block of Sugar Creek Drive

            Summary:  At 2:10am Sheriff’s deputies responded to a residential burglary.  Upon arriving deputies observed a storm door held open with a garbage can.  Deputies entered the residence and announced their presence when the homeowner exited her bedroom where she had been asleep.  The victim was advised to exit her home while the deputies secured the inside from any possible trespassers.  Nothing was taken from the residence and the victim had not been awaken by any noises previous to deputies arriving.  A neighbor however stated that between 1:45 and 1:50am, while smoking a cigarette outside his home he observed an unknown male wearing dark clothing walking south on Sugar Creek and cut through their backyards. 

 

            Location:  Miami and Sterling

            Summary:  Cipriano Vargas-Ortega, age 31, of 1621 E. Cass Street in Joliet was charged with driving without a license, driving too fast for conditions and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident after deputies observed a minivan driving south on Miami over the 25mph limit and attempted to follow it.  Deputies found the minivan in the trees north of Miami where it ends at Sterling, and two people walking out of the trees.  Ortega stated that he did not have enough time to stop his vehicle before the road ended causing it to skid and strike the trees.  East Joliet Fire arrived and transported Vargas-Ortega and his 41 year old female passenger to Silver Cross Hospital.  Injuries appeared to be non-life threatening.

 

            Location:  Essington and Ingalls

            Summary:  Joseph A. Studnicka, age 34, of 3208 Pandola in Joliet was arrested for DUI, DUI over the legal limit and speeding.

 

10/31   Location:  N. Chicago and Liberty

            Summary:  Juan Carlos Cruz, age 24, of 418 Abe in Joliet was arrested for no valid driver’s license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, DUI, and DUI over the legal limit after he was stopped during an IL State Police roadside safety check.

 

            Location:  500 block of Sehring

            Summary:  Person/s unknown entered a residence and stole a $1600 TV and a Wii gaming system.

 

            Location:  Black and Sheila

            Summary:  Donald Reed Burel, age 26, of 1014 Lois in Joliet was arrested for DUI, improper lane usage and improper turn at intersection.

 

11/1     Location:  400 block of S. Briggs

            Summary:  While a victim was rehabbing his home in order to sell it, he arranged for potential buyers, a woman and her 30 year-old son, who he did not know, to tour the house.  After the tour, and the two visitors left, the victim began working on the home again, leaving his wallet on a workbench in a front room of the house.  A short time later the ‘son’ returned with a woman he identified as his fiancé and a 14 year old male, “to show them the house”.  Later in the afternoon the victim went to a gas station and while standing in line realized that $400 was missing from his wallet.  He also realized that he could not account for all three visitors at all times during the most recent tour.

 

            Location:  N. Chicago and Liberty

            Summary:  Anthony B. Ratcliff, age 40, of 407 Mason Avenue in Joliet was arrested for DUI, DUI over the legal limit and driving while license revoked after he was stopped at an IL State Police roadside safety check.

 

            Location:  N. Chicago and Liberty

            Summary:  Vincent Vazquez, age 44, of 7001 Riley Drive in Joliet was arrested for DUI and DUI over the legal limit after he was stopped at an IL State Police roadside safety check.

 

11/2     Location:  5th Ave. and S. Briggs

            Summary:  Luis O. Diaz, age 39, of 631 Benton in Joliet was cited for no valid driver’s license and no rear plate.

 

LOCKPORT

 

10/26   Location:  300 block of Princeton

            Summary:  Between 10/24 and 10/26 person/s unknown removed a spare tire and rim from the bed of a truck.

 

10/28   Location:  21000 block of W. Covington Drive

            Summary:  Person/s unknown struck a 2009 Honda Civic while it was parked in front of a residence.  The offender drove off.

 

10/29   Location:  2300 block of Arthur Avenue

            Summary:  Person/s unknown entered an unlocked vehicle and stole a purse containing two credit cards, a passport and a Mexico driver’s license.  The victim was only out of her vehicle for 5 minutes, during which time the theft occurred.

 

            Location:  400 block of W. Oak Avenue

            Summary:  Victim stated that someone flattened all four tires on her van and three of the tires on her vehicle while they were parked in her driveway.  Victim believes this may be related to an earlier domestic situation.

 

10/30   Location:  309 Barry Avenue

            Summary:  Vernon J. Jones, age 20, of this address, was charged with resisting a police officer after Sheriff’s deputies were serving Jones with an active domestic battery warrant when he became combative.

 

            Location:  1300 block of McCameron

            Summary:  Person/s unknown stole two lighted skull lawn stake sets, and six sections of 10” tall black fencing with skulls on it from the front yard of a residence.

 

10/31   Location:  1300 block of Highland

            Summary:  At 5:42pm Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a residence where they observed the victim, a 37 year-old male, with a 3” laceration on top of his head.  The victim stated that ten minutes before deputies arrived, a male subject, about 5’9”, wearing a white hockey mask and blue/black jacket, rang his doorbell.  When the victim opened the door the offender struck him in the head with a hammer and then fled the area on foot.  Deputies searched the area with negative results.  The victim believed that this incident is most likely related to a previous domestic situation.   Lockport emergency personnel were at the scene and evaluated the victim who was coherent, able to speak and walk unassisted.  The victim refused transportation to the hospital from emergency personnel.  A witness spoke with deputies and confirmed seeing a male white with a hockey mask fleeing the area of the victim’s home.  Deputies were later advised that the victim was at Loyola Hospital with a fractured skull.  He was in stable condition.  Deputies are investigating.

 

            Location:  2100 block of Englewood Ave.

            Summary:  Derrick V. Pettis, age 34, of 2130 Englewood in Lockport was arrested for domestic battery, interfering with reporting of domestic violence, criminal trespass to residence, criminal damage to property, and resisting a peace officer.

 

11/1     Location:  200 block of N. Farrell

            Summary:  Person/s unknown threw an egg at a window air conditioning unit causing damage to the coils.
